The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian Wins National Book Award
Sherman Alexie took home $10,000 as the winner in the young person’s literature category at the 58th annual National Book Awards for his work, The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian. The book is a semi-autobiographical story of an American Indian cartoonist who leaves his reservation to attend an all-white high school.

I love Sherman Alexie’s work and I can’t imagine a more deserving winner. If you haven’t read Sherman, I recommend you start immediately.

This book was fantastic. Funny and sad at the same time, but it was real…really real.
