One Book Two Book - Books for Kids of All Ages

Guess How Much I Love You - Review

by Susan Gunelius on April 9th, 2008

For my first review on One Book Two Book, I thought it would be appropriate to write about one of my very favorite children’s books, Guess How Much I Love You by Sam McBratney and illustrated by Anita Jeram.

First, I should mention that this book comes in several versions - a board book, hard cover, with a bunny toy, etc.  My favorite version is the board book, because it’s perfect for reading to kids of all ages, including infants and toddlers who are particularly rough with books.

Guess How Much I Love You is the story of a young bunny, Little Nutbrown Hare, and his parent, Big Nutbrown Hare (the book can be read with Big Nutbrown Hare as the mother or father), and their conversation before Little Nutbrown Hare goes to bed one evening.  Little Nutbrown Hare tells Big Nutbrown Hare how much he loves his parent (for example, “straight up to the moon”).  Each time Little Nutbrown Hare tries to quantify his love, Big Nutbrown Hare responds with an even bigger amount of love (for example, “straight up to the moon and back”) until Little Nutbrown Hare finally falls asleep.

This book is so cute and so wonderful for a parent to share with his or her child.  I highly recommend it.
