Are You Giving Books For the Holidays?
Apparently some of you are.
Many retailers are reporting slight increases in sales over last year’s post-Thanksgiving weekend - and that’s not counting the impact of Cyber Monday. Good news for book sellers - and for authors.
Tops on the list? Check the NY Times list for the overall best sellers. Books that didn’t make the list but performed well include Conn and Hal Iggulden’s The Dangerous Book for Boys and Andrea Buchanan and Miriam Peskowitz’ The Daring Book for Girls.
As for me, my kids know they’re getting books for Christmas. It’s automatic. What about yours?

I think more people should give books as presents. Not only is there more thought involved in finding a great match, but the recipient will get more out of the gift. I went into a toy store the other day to buy something for my niece and nephew, and was appalled at the mountains of worthless crap that were everywhere.

I always give my son some books for Christmas, and my nieces and nephews each get one with their present too. I try to find unique books with the children’s interests in mind.
I love to read, so I hope to help them all love reading too.
